Ironman 70.3 Los Cabos Race Report, Mexico, 30 Oct 2016

Preparation For this race I had less than a month in between races, so just tried to recover the first 2 weeks after the past race (Cozumel 70.3) and tried to get some longer training's in the time that remained. Preparation was injury free. I didn't read any race reports before hand, but I heard from athletes that had completed the race previously that it was hot, very hot! Location

Ironman 70.3 Monterrey Race Report, Mexico, 20 Mar 2016

Preparation About 4 months before race day I pulled my left hamstring, so had to follow rehabilitation to get back on track. Together with my race bike I bought new bike shoes. As the position of these shoes was slightly different compared to my previous shoes it caused some tendinitis in the midfoot area. Visiting multiple sport doctors and medication didn't really help. Problem got resolved in the end by re-positioning the SPD cleats under the shoe to mimic their position as good as possible compared to my previous shoes. I didn't really follow any training schedule, just tried to get some swim, spin and run sessions in the gym during the week and in the weekend spend some longer training sessions on the bike outdoors. Location City of Monterrey in the north of Mexico, surrounded by mountains, however in general the race is flat. Ironman 70.3 Cozumel Race Report, Mexico, 2 Oct 2016

Preparation No injuries during the preparation of this triathlon. I no longer had a membership in the gym where I was previously training, so it was harder to do brick sessions during the week. As we had been to the island of Cozumel before we knew that it could be very humid and hot, so as part of the preparation, and to enjoy a little more of this beautiful island we made sure to arrive almost a week before race day and get some training sessions in. Location The Mexican island of Cozumel is a well known touristic location and is world famous for its snorkeling and scuba diving locations. The island is pretty flat, the major challenges during the race are the heat and humidity. Even just walking around for 15 minutes on the island makes you sweat and hunker for some shadow.
